![]() ![]() ![]() I do like to record synth through a 610 preamp (hardware) the cumulative effect of driving the tubes on a multitracked part is nice, and the unison plugin should do something similar.īut so goes the freedom of synthesis you can make basically any sound you can imagine, so a definitive answer on how to process a synth sound will be difficult to give. ![]() But since "synth" is such a broad term, it really depends on what role it's playing in a mix bass? Pad? Lead? Drums? There'll be a different treatment for each, or none at all. If it's a synth bass line, then i treat it like a bass some 1176, maybe a dip in the low-mids with the 550A, etc. In terms of mixing, though, it depends on what the synth is doing in the mix. You can hear this firsthand by loading up an interesting preset in something like Massive, then turning off all the effects. The most frequently used UAD plugs for me are the delays, reverbs, and modulation stuff they're a very important part of big synth sounds. I have a Minimoog Voyager, which I use for all synth-related tasks, even polyphonic stuff (via lots and lots and LOTS of multitracking). ![]()
